  • Baking Attempt #2

I decided to bake again today to redeem myself from yesterday's Baking!Fail, so I decided on Chocolate Chip Muffins.

I had to go to Sobey's with my dad so he could pick up lettuce for tonight's dinner and I could grab some baking cups to put the muffins in. This time I followed the instructions perfectly and they tasted really good! They don't taste/look as good as my mom's but I thought it was pretty good for a 2nd try from scratch. However, the cook book failed to mention that I have to grease the paper too, so although it was difficult for the muffins to rip off the paper, it was delicious nonetheless.

    Such deliciousness.

I hope I can now learn to bake yummier things and NOT kill/poison people.

  • Baking Date~<3

SB and I decided to bake some marbled muffins today. Unfortunately for us, we were having so much fun trying to back (and reading my poorly re-typed instructions), we forgot to add sugar into our batter, so the muffins turned out really bitter XD

Fortunately we went to Wendy's beforehand so we weren't too disappointed at our baking!Fail.

I will attempt to bake them again tomorrow... XD

  • Light Echoes

On Friday, AL invited me and some friends to the Art Museum on our campus for one of their monthly events. This month’s event was called “Light Echoes” and AL described it to me as an event in which we would get to see the Tycho supernova that occurred in the Cassiopeia constellation in the 1500s. In the end, only AL and I went because our friends either had class or went home. Other than that day, I had never really set foot in the Museum on campus, I don’t really know why, I just never did. Unfortunately our high hopes for something spectacular weren’t as spectacular as we hoped, but it was still beautiful. The display was in this incredibly dark room (which made me a bit nervous, I’m scared of the dark), but once I saw the display and my eyes adjusted, albeit small, the display was breathtaking. It was a realistic representation created by Doug Welch and Dianne Bos, of the night sky on the night that Tycho observed the famous supernova. Doug Welch had to use many computer programs to determine the orientation, relative distance, brightness and other measures to make the display extremely realistic. Also, every so often, a fantastically brighter light would come on to represent the supernova. I commented to AL that it would be amazing to have such a display light up your bedroom ceiling at night, to which he agreed. After looking at the other pieces of art, AL showed me the sculpture in the stairwell, which was a giant vase constructed entirely out of clothing hangers! I thought it was really cool that people can actually have the innovation and imagination to come up with things like that.

After the museum, AL and I went to go check out the new Engineering building that just finished its construction. It was a really impressive building, although too much concrete for my tastes. I mainly liked the excessive use of windows (windows are love), and the fantastic café they have! I’m so jealous, I wish it wasn’t so far away from the rest of campus, otherwise I would definitely go there often!

  • Video Game Artist

...a career I am seriously considering.

Have I finally got my ass in gear? My head on straight? A direction?  No not really.

It is a career that peaked my interest about 2 months ago when a very dear online friend of mine suggested it and said I should go for it. In the following weeks, my brother has also encouraged me to figure everything out so at least I can start on something rather than doing nothing and not knowing what to do.

I've looked at Seneca (Toronto), VanArts, and VCAD (Both in Vancouver), which have specialized art courses for game development and design. However, their programs require me to send them an online portfolio of my artwork. Not saying that  I don't have one, as my deviantArt account exists, it's just that I don't feel that my current skill-level in art is up-to-par with semi-professional standards.

To compensate for this, I'm probably going to be taking some classes at a local art school where I live to pad and buff some of my skills in different areas of art.

Hopefully I can achieve my dream of working for Squaresoft ...hahaha.

  • Wasp Sting! :(

Last night I got stung by a bee/wasp for the first time in my life.

At work, a couple of girls wanted the bags for candy, and as I reached to grab one, I got stung by a wasp as it flew away. At first it was just a little red dot on my palm, but it hurt a lot. I went to go put a bandaid on it as Thrills didn't have any alcohol wipes at the time. It was quite painful for the majority of the evening, and started to swell a bit and redden. I went home and put some "Bak Fa Yau" (lit. White Flower Oil) on it and a new bandaid. The oil made it sting a bit, but now today I don't feel any pain at all.

Fortunately, now I know I'm not allergic to stings.
